So it’s been over a month since I set myself up for my 30 day declutter challenge. So, how did I do?

So… not great. I failed to take into account how busy of a month June was. Most of my weekends (prime declutter time!) were booked up with baby related engagements, so I didn’t have as much time as I expected to. A few of the things on the list were just too difficult for me to finish (such as the cords on the entertainment center. My belly prevents me from getting back there), and some spaces need decluttering before I could get to the official declutter. My baby shower was this past weekend, and I am just so tired of all of the gifts waiting to be put away, that I can’t imagine intentionally bringing out more items into this chaos.
So, I’m going to take care of what I have cleaned out before I start anymore, which means listings items on ebay and a trip to a local donation center.
Something that did surprise me is the amount of total bags to be purged from our house. I honestly expected a lot more! I’m not sure if it’s because I didn’t finish my total list, or if I’m hanging onto more things than I expected to. Although I don’t totally embrace the minimalist lifestyle, I was still hoping to get ride of quite a bit of our stuff we don’t use.
For now, I’m going to continue working on my list. Downsizing my closet will be a huge task, but that can wait until after baby is born since I’ll be a bunch of different sizes during that process. But I am planning on a huge overhaul since my clothing style has changed.
