Essential oils are some of the most versatile substances on the planet. They can be used topically, aromatically, and some can even be taken internally. They can be used for cleaning, aid in health problems or boost our moods. They can be used for almost anything, and the best part is they are all natural.

Essential oils are the “essence” of a plant that is distilled from various parts of the plant (seeds, bark, fruit, leaves, etc). The essence is made up of chemical compounds which are effected by where and how the plant was grown, such as if it is native to the area, soil composition, fertilizer, altitude and climate. It can be extracted from the plants in many ways, but most often it is extracted through steam distillation or cold pressing.

Using high quality oils is essential to effective use. Adulterated oils are not only less effective, but can be dangerous as well. This is why you want pure, undiluted therapeutic grade essential oils. There are quite a few companies that currently produce high quality oils, but my favorite is DoTerra.

DoTerra sources their oils from various distilleries around the world, ensuring that the plant grows in its optimal environment. This protects the chemical compound of the plant exactly as nature intended and in turn produces a higher quality oil.

DoTerra has some of the strictest testing procedures in the industry. DoTerra uses 5 different types of tests to ensure purity and potency, each conducted by an independent laboratory so you can be sure that all doTerra oils are Certified, Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG). You can read more about the different tests performed on Doterra’s official blog.
