Any parent should know the joy of experiencing nature with their toddler. Nothing teaches your little ones so well as time outdoors. Even so, it’s not always possible to get out. Sometimes you just don’t have time. We’re all busy, right? Though you should make getting out with the kids a priority, don’t beat yourself up if you don’t manage it everyday. One way around the problem is to create a garden your toddlers love spending time in. That way, they’ll still get time outside! If you’re lucky enough to have a garden that’s suitable, don’t hesitate to turn it into a nature reserve! These tips that should help you on your quest.

Come Up With a Plan

Before you get to work, it’ll help to plan your garden. Too often we neglect the outside of our homes. While some jobs, such as roofing repair, should be left to companies like http://www.charlotteroofing.com, your garden is one thing you can take control of. Come up with a plan for how you would like the space to be. Think about the purpose of your garden throughout the planning process. You can go as extreme with your plans as you want to. Remember to have fun. The more fun stuff you incorporate, the more your toddlers will love the space! It can help to ask your little one what they would like from the garden. The suggestions you get may be unachievable, but they should at least give you some ideas!

Think Flowers

Once you’ve got a plan of how you would like your garden to be, it’s time to get to work. The first job to tackle should be flowers. No garden is complete without them! That’s especially true if the purpose of your garden redesign is to amuse your little one. It’s important your child comes into contact with as many different flowers as possible. How else can they learn? If you’re unsure about where to start, get some ideas on sites like http://gardening.about.com. Think about what times of year each flower needs planting to ensure you’re doing things right! Think, too, about how you would like to display them. You’ll want to educate your toddler about the flowers you have. Planting them in order can help you keep track. You could plant according to colour groups. If you want to get creative, you could plant so that the flowers display a picture when they grow!

Invite Nature to your Garden

As well as teaching your kid about flowers, your garden is the perfect space to teach them about nature. Take steps to invite as much nature as possible into the space. Take the time to hang bird boxes and feeders. Think, too, about supplying areas for bugs to thrive. Setting up small rock formations is a sure way to encourage insects of all types will come into your garden. You could even teach your child about life underwater by installing a pond. Just make sure you keep it fenced off!
