5 Gifts to Send Far-Away Loved Ones this Christmas

The holidays can be a hard time when you’re away from family and friends. Not only are you unable to spend time with them, though it can be difficult knowing what gifts to get. While you might not be able to sit around the tree and physically exchange presents with one another, our world is getting smaller every day and it’s becoming much easier to send gifts to those who live far away.

I received compensation for this post. For more information, see my full disclosure policy here.

We know gift shopping can be one of the more difficult obstacles during the holidays. Some people even dread the whole ordeal. But there are so many choices that can appeal to a wide variety of your loved ones and let them know you’re thinking about them during this winter season. So, if you’re struggling with what to get your loved ones who live on the other side of the country or globe, here are five gifts sure to make anyone happy:

1. Coffee Mugs

Yes, it’s been done many times before. But anyone with a true caffeine addiction knows that you can NEVER have enough coffee mugs. To make this gift extra special, you can personalize them with a family photo using mug printing from Mugstore. With several different kinds to choose from and design yourself, this is a highly thoughtful gift and one you can keep forever.

2. Cupcake Decorating Kit

The holidays are known for many fun activities, one of which is baking. If you feel guilty that you are unable to bake delicious treats with your loved ones, send them a cupcake or cookie decorating kit as a consolation. Gifts that are centered on an activity or event are an especially good idea as they create memories in their wake.

3. Wall Calendar or Planner

A fantastic idea for the Type A personality in your life, planners or calendars are not only beautiful but also in season! Help your organized friend or family member to prepare for the upcoming new year with their very own day planner. Journaling has never been trendier and you can purchase gorgeous and high end designs from places like Rifle Paper Company.

4. Instax mini & film

The perfect gift for your favorite travel companion, the Instax mini comes in several different colors. Taking it back old school, these cameras are not only great for capturing moments on film but as décor for your home. Small and compact, they are great for travel and excursions. Just don’t forget to buy your loved one film to go with it! And if you’re really feeling generous there’s holder and strap accessories as well.

5. A Set of Wine Glasses

Obviously, this is meant for someone who is of drinking age, but you cannot go wrong with a set of nice wine glasses. The holidays are a time for entertaining and what better way than to pop open some bubbly or a nice Merlot? A sophisticated option, your more mature family members will be impressed and touched by the gesture. It might be worth it to pay a little extra for more packing peanuts to ensure they arrive without incident.

Conclusion:

You know your loved ones better than most. If you are still feeling overwhelmed, try to narrow your ideas into subcategories. Does your aunt love to travel? Start there. Is your stepsister really getting into yoga? Search for accessories or apparel. By narrowing down your search through the internet, you will stumble upon more ideas that you initially thought of.

Once the items have been selected, the last step is to have them shipped. Thankfully, the World Wide Web is more than ready to handle that for you. While being away from family during the winter holidays can seem difficult, don’t let that stop you from finding and sending them a thoughtful gift. If you can’t be there in person, at least you will be there in spirit.
