Essential Things You Need To Do To Your Home (So That Your Family Stays Healthy)

You will be surprised how many things in your home could be making your family ill. Whether it’s mold or carbon monoxide, they could be causing damage to your family’s health. However, a lot of these things are less obvious and hard to notice in your home. Therefore, your family could be suffering without you even knowing why. Here are some essential things you need to do to your home so that your family stays healthy.

Monitor Carbon Monoxide Levels

You will be shocked to know that so many children end up in the hospital every year because of carbon monoxide poisoning. The trouble is, carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless, so it could make your kids seriously ill without you even knowing it’s in your home! The gas prevents oxygen from getting to the heart and the brain. The best way to ensure it doesn’t end up harming your family is to buy carbon monoxide alarms for your home. That way, you can monitor the levels, and if the alarm does go off, you can remove your family from the property. You can also make sure that all heating appliances are inspected every year. That way, you can check if the fuel-burning appliances are all working correctly. Don’t forget this applies to working fireplaces as well; make sure you get a professional in to clean the chimney. They can check it’s working efficiently every year to ensure your family stays healthy!

Insulate the Loft

A lot of people don’t insulate the loft, but it’s so important to ensure you keep your family safe. For one thing, having a properly insulated loft can save you money on your heating bills. It’s because, without proper insulation, nearly half of your heating could be escaping through walls and your roof. But also insulating your loft will prevent condensation in your property. As you should know, condensation left untreated could easily turn to mold. It could damage your family’s health as it can cause respiratory problems and immune issues. Therefore, it’s so important to make sure you insulate the loft. You can search for companies online who provide full insulation services. You can find this at Cardinal Homes and other similar companies who can access your needs before making a quote.

Fit Double Glazing

It’s so important to make the windows in your home double glazed if you want to keep your family healthy. For one thing, it will ensure your family keeps warm in colder months. Without it, you won’t have any natural heat in your home which could lead to your family getting flu bugs before long. And it will result in expensive heating bills when you have to turn the temperature up. And for another thing, having double glazed windows can ensure your family avoids condensation. Condensation can rot timber window frames and cause mold and mildew. It will lead to your kids experiencing flu-like symptoms in your home. Therefore, fit double glazing to reduce moisture on your windows and keep your family healthier!

You’re so right about the loft! I didn’t consider condensation but definitely the heat loss is key.
