Becoming a parent is one of the most exciting adventures you will ever embark upon. But when you’re bringing a newborn home, there’s a lot to consider. In the early days, you’ll want to simply focus on taking care of your new baby. So it’s useful to take advantage of different services that are available, to make things run more smoothly and give you more time to focus on the thing that matters most.

Maid/ Cleaner

Having someone to come in for a short while each day or a couple of times a week can be really useful. When you’re spending all of your time looking after a newborn and the rest trying to grab a much-deserved nap, you won’t have a whole lot of time to clean the house. But with a vulnerable baby in the house, you, of course, need everything keeping spic and span. Hiring a maid or cleaner to vacuum, dust, clean the bathrooms and kitchen and pick up any general clutter will help you out no end. It’s something that’s well worth budgeting for in the early days of parenthood.

Ironing or Laundry Service

A new baby equals a whole lot of laundry. To keep on top of things, you could look into local laundry services. Many will offer ironing too so all of yours and your baby’s clothes, towels, bedding and everything else will be spic and span and ready to be used again. Tackling a huge pile of laundry when you have a new baby and are functioning on an hours sleep just isn’t practical. This way you make things much easier for yourself!

Healthy Takeaway

One useful thing you can do before the baby arrives is to batch cook some meals, divide them up into Tupperware and pop them in the freezer. That way you have nutritious home cooked meals that just need reheating, and with none of the time or effort needed to cook from scratch. But on other days where you just want something bringing to you hot and ready to go, it can be useful to have the number of a healthy takeaway. That way you can enjoy a meal guilt free, and know you’re still nourishing your body which is exactly what you need to recover from childbirth.

Friends and Family

Finally, not exactly a service but the help of family and friends is crucial in the early days of parenthood. It could be someone to watch the baby while you relax in the bath, or catch a few hours sleep. This alone can make you feel so much more ‘human’ and give you the boost you need. It could be running a couple of errands, or generally being around to provide moral support when needed. It could be helping with any of the jobs above. Having a good support network is useful when you have a new baby, and your loved ones are bound to be happy to assist so don’t be too proud to ask or accept any help they want to give.
